Project description

The 2 sets of culvert drainage pipes need to be replaced due to their conditions caused by age. The structures are over 70 years of age and past their useful life.

It is proposed to remove the existing structures at the 2 locations and replace them with new structures and new headwalls. Backfill the trenches and reinstate the seal on the section affected by the work. The work will happen under traffic control to ensure safety of all road users during the works.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
