Project description

Road is in a deteriorated state and is suffering from rutting due to poor pavement quality and drainage controls. This segment contains rutting, scattered loose aggregates, vegetable encroachment, severe corrugation, shoulder erosion, and potholes.

Gravel resheeting with 150 mm thick imported gravel with drainage work that includes clearing, regarding and reshaping. All the defects are to be rectified prior to gravel resheeting.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
