Project description

The road surface is in deteriorated state due to age and environmental impacts. The road surface contains surface deformation, rutting, crocodile cracks and potholes.

Necessary surface corrections are to be made. The existing asphalt surface is to be removed and disposed to a designated location as instructed by engineers. The surface is to be compacted and apply prime seal prior to laying asphalt. Apply 50 mm of AC 14 on the compacted surface. Reinstate existing line marking.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
