Project description

Gravel is worn down to clay base which breaks up into bulldust and potholes in the dry and becomes slippery when wet.

The gravel re-sheet process begins with clearing vegetation to the maintenance zone then building up the road formation using material sourced from existing drains and backslopes, which is then water binded, balanced and compacted to ensure stability. Conduct gravel sheeting and define drainage, 175 mm loose compacted to 150 mm ensuring new layer is water binded and compacted. A crossfall of 3-4% is established to facilitate proper drainage. Drainage is carefully defined to ensure proper water management and prevent erosion.
