Project description

Brabins Road is a curved, narrow road including sections where the road has not been constructed adequately through drainage chanels and causeways. This combined with a combination of poor vertical alignment and inadequate superelevation poses significant safety risks. Pavement damage, due to heavy vehicles, has resulted in the pavement being at end of life. This includes shoves, bleeding and potholes add to the safety concerns in this location. The project rectifies these issues with a reconstructed pavement.

Three Stages of works including 24-25, 25-26 and 26-27 financial year totalling 2.8km of works. This includes 800m in year 1 and 1000m each year thereafter. The project includes widening to an 8m seal with a 9m pavement, reshaping table drain, traffic control, lime stabilization of sub-base to a depth of 250 mm, addition of 120 mm of thick base layer comprising of DGS/DGB material and a 14mm/7 mm double coat sealed wearing course.
