Project description

Existing timber bridge failing to provide access for local resident(s).

Replace current timber bridge with new steel bridge structure. Current funding arrangement for construction as follows: RTR: $1,080,000 Shire of Harvey: $375,000 (committed) Shire of Dardanup: $125,000 (committed) MRWA: $220,000 In the first instance, the Shire will be seeking further SLRIP funding to bridge the $400,000 difference. Short of this, the Shire of Harvey will be funding the outstanding amount directly in the upcoming 2025/26 mid-year budget review.

Total cost of proposed project is $2,200,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
