Project description

The existing road has a narrow seal that is old and deteriorating.

Where sections of the road show pavement failure, box out and replace with new gravel. Undertake shoulder widening and form a sealed surface at least 6.0metres wide by sealing the existing shoulder area where necessary. Complete a sprayed reseal on the full width of the road, place guide posts as required, mark and spray centre and barrier lines. Additional funding provided by: Regional Road Group $500,000 Shire of Manjimup $ 50,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
