Project description

The existing road is unsealed and the horizontal alignment is sub-standard.

Remove trees detailed in the engineering design and replace culverts as required; where the new alignment differs from the existing alignment, prepare the sub-grade to the design alignment and levels. Import, spread and compact new gravel for the entire width and length of the project length forming an 8 metre wide pavement then place a 6 metre wide, 2 coat spray seal. Place centre and barrier line marking and guide posts as required. Additional funding provided by: Regional Road Group $500,000 Shire of Manjimup $ 50,000

Total cost of proposed project is $750,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
