Project description

Subgrade failures exist that result in an uneven running surface, potholes and crocodile cracking plus the existing seal is old an generally in poor condition.

Box out the road where subgrade failures are located and import and fill the excavations with gravel; if necessary install subsurface drainage coil to encourage ground water to run away from the road to the verge. Place a spray sealed primer on these sections then an asphalt overlay along the road. Additional funds provided by: Shire of Manjimup $35,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
