Project description

This section of Biddy Camm Road is well trafficked by heavy vehicles attempting to get on to Newdegate North Road (which is a sealed road) to reach the Newdegate townsite where the CBH grain receival site is. As a result this road suffered from constant corrugations/rutting from traffic during harvest time, causing loss of control and vibrational damage to vehicles. It had a primerseal laid in the previous financial year to improve the road's durability and surface smoothness.

This project is to apply the secondary seal treatment (reseal) to the primerseal laid last year to finalize the bitumen surface.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
