Project description

Road width and Asset Maintenance are the two main contributing factors to the inclusion of Lachlan Street into this years R2R program. The existing roadway is very narrow and in very poor condition. The surface is cracked and numerous potholes continually exist even with regular maintenance.

Works will include pavement rehabilitation and pavement widening with subgrade stabilisation. Works will be completed with a 2 coat bitumen seal

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
