Project description

Bundeena Drive is showing signs of pavement deformation and failures in 2 sections. Council is getting a large amount of request from the local community regarding its condition. Bundeena Drive is the only road in and out of Maianbar and Bundeena towns and only provides narrow travelling lanes and no provision for cyclists.

Full width pavement reconstruction (11m wide) approximately 30,000m2 separated into 2 sections, including the provision of an on-road cycleway on both sides of the road and vegetation clearing. Council investigating the possibility of providing a stabilised road pavement base with an asphalt surface.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
