Project description

The existing pavement will require some rectification work at a couple locations, the existing seal is showing wear and tear and is at the end of its useful life. It needs a reseal to protect the existing pavement structure.

It is proposed to repair the pavement at a couple location on the turn around and reseal the entire section of road with crumb rubber seal and a 10 mm stone. The proposed work funding for this project is as follows: Roads to Recovery: $7,067 and Local Government own funding source: $5,093 for a total of $12,160. This project came about as some saving in budget have been identified for this financial year.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
