Project description

Narrow poor quality road pavement.

Widen, improve and seal the existing road pavement and add formalised parking on the Western side outside the sports precinct. Co-funding for the balance of the project is by Orange City Council, the Commonwealth through the Growing Regions program R2 and the NSW State Government through Fixing Local Roads R3 and Regional NSW - Infrastructure and Job Acceleration Fund.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
