Project description

The Hay River crossing bridge in in very poor condition with extensive degradation of the concrete throughout the 4 box section barrels. The road receives large volumes of heavy traffic and the replacement is considered to be urgent.

Removal and replacement of the existing culvert structure with similarly sized pipes. Reinstatement of the road pavement to new design levels. Installation of a Main Roads WA compliant safety barrier. Relocation and reinstatement of services, site clearing and dewatering within the scope of works. The project is Joint funded with Main Roads WA (WA Government funds).

Total cost of proposed project is $1,196,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
