Project description

Racecourse Road is a major industrial route connecting heavy vehicles and businesses to the New England Highway. Heavy vehicle traffic is double the default assumption of 5% and 10% (Per Ausroads 5.2.3), with an ADT of 4647. The road section in question is approx. 600m long with an average with of 12.6m. Road pavement and surface are in poor condition experiencing extensive longitudinal and crocodile cracking, rutting and potholing. Defects will be addressed by stabilising pavement to a depth of 260mm, and resurfacing with 50mm asphaltic concrete.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
