Project description

Replacement of existing bridge with a box culvert structure that adheres to Main Roads WA standards, as per the currently approved RTR Project Number: 134196-25WA-RTR. The objective of this second application is to bridge the gap identified in the Shire's revised cost estimate to market conditions from its 2024-29 RTR allocation. The estimate places the bridge construction at $2,378,368 (excl. GST) and allowing a contingency of 15% for a total cost of $2,735,123.20. The total funding amount requested from this application is $935,123.20.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
