Project description

Rehab - We completed a targeted rehabilitation to the shoulders only to widen the road and improve durability, as the existing running surface was generally in good condition. The shoulder profile was reformed and reinstated to suit the higher traffic volumes and to help extend the service life of the pavement. As part of the works, drainage was checked and cleared where required, and roadside vegetation was trimmed/removed to maintain clearance and keep runoff paths unobstructed.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
