Project description

The existing drainage structure comprises a five-cell, 1,200 mm diameter precast reinforced concrete pipe culvert conveying flows from Folly Creek, a designated waterway. The structure is exhibiting differential settlement across the pipe sections, and the associated wingwalls are in a significantly deteriorated condition. As part of this project, Council proposes to replace the existing culvert with new pipes and wingwalls to address structural deficiencies, improve safety, and ensure compliance with current engineering and asset management standards.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
