Project description

Asphalt Roadway Renewal. Defects include wide ranging cracking (longitudinal, transverse), depressions in the roadway, rutting along wheel paths at approach to intersections and appearance of fatigue and pavement failing in sections. Scope of works profile: 50 mm with 100mm deep lift in sections, resurface: full width with 50 mm size 10mm aggregate wearing course and 50mm size 14mm aggregate base course in deep lift sections with Greenpave U dense-graded Hot Mix Asphalt, including Green coloured surface treatment within the bicycle lane on both sides. The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
