Project description

Philp Street has suffered ongoing damage in recent time from additional traffic loading (due to new housing along its length) and wet season rains that have washed the pavement material away. In addition there have been significant dust issues during the dry season creating a potential health risk.

In order to maintain the current asset, and reduce dust related problems it is proposed to construct full depth pavement, kerb and channel and appropriate drainage.

Total cost of proposed project is $470,000

Norrish Road, Broomehill East (Rural Road) - 058605-15WA-RTR

Existing gravel has worn away over time through increased heavy traffic and is now slippery and dangerous in wet conditions. This road is a major through road for grain/heavy haulage, a major tourist route and is also a school bus route.Resheet to existing width with quality gravel

Gumble Road - 058607-15NSW-RTR

Narrow and loose gravel pavement.Widen, strengthen and bitumen seal pavement to a 8m width. Improve access for the B double route.

Cobra-Dairy Creek Road (Rural Road) - 058608-15WA-RTR

This is a hilly section with many rocky outcrops of quarts and granite making it very rough and difficult to maintenance grade particularly finding dirt from the batters. The rocky outcops have also necessitated several undesirable corners. It is a main tourist route to the MT Augustus National Park and has stock traffic.Good local material will be used to sheet and be water bound on various sections totalling 11 km to reduce wear and reappearance of rocks. One corner around a granite outcrop will be re-aligned for better safety and to avoid rocky sections on the current alignment.

Mulla Road (Rural Road) - 058609-15NSW-RTR

Existing poor quality gravel pavement is allowing water infiltration and deformation of pavement shape.Reform a 1km total length of existing pavement and re-sheet with a 100 mm depth of good quality crushed rock.
