Project description

The project installed an electronic freeway management system including variable speed limit signs; entry ramp signalling; CCTVs; digital message signs providing live updates on traffic conditions and delays; and, signs advising drivers of lane and speed restrictions.

Benefits

The project improves capacity and safety and reduces congestion and travel times.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $108 million and the Queensland Government $27 million towards the $135 million project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in March 2022 and was completed in March 2025.
