Project description

The project involved an upgrade of the Kirrama Range Road including the replacement of ten bridges, drainage works and road reconstruction.

Benefits

The project enabled the opening of the road to benefit tourism, traditional owners and local cattle station owners.

Funding

The Australian Government provided $1 million to the project, in partnership with the Queensland Government and the Cassowary Coast Regional Council.

Timetable

Construction commenced in December 2013 and was completed in December 2014.

White Road, currently unsealed carries large volume freight movement to and from Ingham's Chickens Breeder Facility (Chicken Growing. As White Road runs parallel to the South Eastern Freeway (within 30m at is shortest point) there is often dust issues on the freeway. In addition due the freight volume maintenance of White Road is a high cost item for Rural City of Murray BridgeRehabilitate and improve the unsealed granular pavement by installing additional material and applying 14/7mm spray seal. Pavement works will be undertaken by Council works staff with sealing works contracted to Council sealing contractor.

Falkenberg Road, Nuriootpa - 059841-15SA-RTR

This section of road is a sealed road at the end of its useful seal life. The road surface has become porous and allows water to penetrate into the sealed surface.40mm AC10 asphalt overlay, 290 metres at a width of 8.5 metres as part of Councils Reseal program to rehabilitate the surface and extend seal life.

Kalimna Road, Nuriootpa - 059842-15SA-RTR

The road surface has become porous and allows water to penetrate into the sealed surface.Two coat heavy duty spray seal - 16mm/10mm, 1189 meters at a width of 8.5, as part of Council's reseal program to rehabilitate the surface and extend seal life.

Increased traffic flows due to development and access to regional townships with The Barossa Council and Mid Murray Council requires the road surface to be sealed.Two coat spray seal - 14mm/7mm, 2315 meters at a width of 8.5 meters, as part of Council's reseal program to upgrade the surface and improve road safety.Total cost of proposed project is $342,584

Ramsay Street, Cloncurry - 059847-15QLD-RTR

The whole of Ramsay Street (between Station Street and the Barklay Highway) is required to be resurfaced, road surface levels corrected and subsequent drainage and kerbing upgraded. State will be responsible for costs associated with running lanes while Cloncurry Shire will undertake sealing of centre, right and left parking lanes, restoration and replacement of kerbing and channelling and restore/upgrade underground drainage system.Upgrading/rehabilitation of 737m of Ramsay Street (right and left sides as well as centre parking) - works to include resurfacing and correction of road level, restoration and replacement of kerbing and channelling to suit road corrections as well as upgrading/restoration to existing underground stormwater and drainage system for this section for road.Total cost of proposed project is $706,665
