Project description

The road pavement has numerous failures, requiring regular routine maintenance to patch potholes and rectify other pavement defects.

Rehabilitation, including minor realignment, reshaping road verges to improve drainage and minimise water ingress into pavement; ripping the existing surface and resheeting the road with a layer of gravel to improve the pavement strength; and bitumen sealing the road to 6.2 metres in width.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
