Project description

The current road is unsealed and very narrow (only 7 metres wide in some sections). The road has an undulating vertical and horizontal alignment, restricting sight and traversing several watercourses, which often cause closure of the road due to flood damage.

The work proposed includes improving the vertical and horizontal alignment, using existing road reserves and minor land acquisitions. 31 culverts will be installed to aaccommodate water crossings and the road will be widened to 11 metres and sealed, increasing the design speed from 80 to 100 kilometres per hour. The District Council of Orroroo Carrieton have completed their section and the District Council of Mount Remarkable will now commence the final 6.4 kilometre section from the council boundary to the Booleroo airstrip, undertaking preparatory works.

Total cost of proposed project is $4,070,000
