The project stabilised and reconstructed parts of Riverside Drive at Nambucca Heads in northern NSW. The road was previously prone to landslips during periods of wet weather. The works were undertaken over two sections:
The project has enhanced safety for the 8,000 vehicles per day that travel along Riverside Drive and the residents living along the road. The stabilisation of upslope embankments has reduced the likelihood of landslips that could have potentially blocked road access to and from Nambucca Heads. The project has also significantly enhanced the safety and stability of homes that were at risk of being affected by land slippage before the upgrade.
The Australian Government fully funded this $5 million reconstruction project.
On 16 January 2015, Specialised Geo Pty Ltd was awarded a contract to upgrade Section 1. Construction on this section commenced on 16 February 2015.
On 25 March 2015, EarthTEC Pty Ltd was awarded a contract to upgrade Section 2. Construction on this section commenced on 27 April 2015.
