Project description

A program of 20 individual projects on the Warrego Highway between Toowoomba and Roma, which included:

  • over 25km of pavement widening of narrow pavement seals currently less than nine metres wide and pavement strengthening works on rough and failing pavements
  • up to 16.5km of duplication from two to four lanes, approximately 10km between Toowoomba and Oakey and approximately 6.5km at Dalby
  • up to 14 additional overtaking lanes between Oakey and Miles
  • replacement of a load-limited bridge structure at Jingi Jingi Creek
  • intersection safety upgrades at high-crash locations and at open-level rail crossings

Funding

The Australian Government committed $828 million to the project.

Timetable

Construction commenced on the first of the projects, Toowoomba to Oakey Stage 1 Duplication in early 2015. Construction on the last project was completed in December 2020.
