Project description

The project involved the strengthening of four bridges on the Western Freeway from Bacchus Marsh to Ballan.

Benefits

The project has increased the load capacity of bridges on the Western Freeway from 68 tonnes to 113 tonnes. This has enabled an increase in capacity, reduced operating costs and provides greater flexibility for heavy vehicles operators.

Funding

The total project cost is $11 million. The Australian Government contributed $8.8 million and the Victorian Government $2.2 million.

Timetable

Construction commenced in July 2016 and was completed in August 2018.
