Project description

This road is unsealed and is a safety concern during harvest, due to dust from the increase of heavy vehicle transport on the road and sections of this road are also a school bus route. The dust is also an environmental concern as the native vegetation in proximity to the road suffers due to the dust. This road is the main route used by heavy transports moving grain from farms to silos. This road is classed as a primary collector road and is gazetted as an A and B Double commodity route and HML Route. Parts of this road are gazzetted for HML General Frieght.

Works proposed include construction and sealing to 11.5 kilometres of the Balumbah-Kinnard Road, culvert installation, adjustments to the vertical and horizontal alignment of the road. There will be an 11 metre constructed pavement with an 8metre 2 coat seal. There will be widening of the road at junctions in order to comply with transport requirements for heavy vehicles as per DPTI route assessment guidelines.
