Project description

Stage 1 of the Mangalore to Bagdad Safety Improvements has upgraded 3.1 kilometres of the Midland Highway from north of Eddington Road to Swan Street (North) through the Bagdad township.

Benefits

The upgrade of the Midland Highway (Mangalore to Bagdad) will deliver significant safety benefits, in particular, a safer interaction between local and through traffic and a reduction in the incidence of crashes.

The project will achieve a minimum 3 star AusRAP rating on this section of the Midland Highway.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $7,931,648 to this project with the Tasmanian Government contributing $1,982,913.

Timetable

Construction commenced in March 2016 and was completed in March 2017.
