Project description

Ghan Heritage Road is a significant access road to remote areas of 4 large cattle stations and several indigenous communities. The road is also well used by mining exploration crews. Ghan Heritage Road is part of the Binns Track providing a 4WD experience for tourism. The road is currently experiencing very dry conditions, with high 4WD tourism, cattle station and community usage for cattle transport. This vehicle traffic has caused numerous sections of road to deteriorate into deep bull dust and sand. This year there has been reports of numerous vehicles becoming bogged or damaged due to the poor pavement conditions.

Reform and gravel resheet various sections of the road between chainage 0.0 to 40 kilometres and drainage improvements.
