Project description

The eastern end of the Adelaide St Service Road currently intersects with the Sturt Highway. This intersection is on a bend, a slight hill and has poor sight distance as well as difficulty in vehicles matching the traffic speed when pulling onto the highway. The service road is to be extended east so that it intersects with Wilga Road, (local road) to create a safer environment.

This project is to construct and seal the new service road.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
