Project description

The gravel on this section of road is seriously deficient as it has been depleted through hire usage / or lack of maintenance and becoming slippery during the winter period. Douglas Road has been subject of a five year gravel sheeting program and this section is the third year of the program to be gravel sheeted.

Council proposes to prune trees and improve sight distances, clear out any blocked culverts, do minor formation work and gravel sheeting to 100mm thick by 10 metre wide to reinstate this section of road back to its original condition.

The existing road is deficient in strength and is breaking up in sections.Replace existing drainage and culverts. Milling and stabilisation to a depth of 200mm, 120mm thick layer of compacted finely crushed rock and finished with a two coat seal.
