Project description

Stabilisation of the embankment supporting the road at the intersection of McLachlan and Walker Streets in Northcote. Road is built on fill that was placed there in the 1920s and is beginning to collapse. Road connects to a bridge across the Merri Creek which is the primary pedestrian access to the local train station.

Stabilisation of embankment as per geotechnical engineer's recommendations (construction of a reinforced earth retaining wall). Reconstruction of road pavement, footpath and kerbing. Works to repair/replaced damaged/displaced underground drainage. Construction of a raised pedestrian crossing for pedestrians and cyclists accessing Rushall Station via the footbridge.

Total cost of proposed project is $804,566
