Project description

Booborowie Rd is a high maintenance open surface road with daily traffic volumes on average 100 vehicles per day. The road is the main north/south connection for the Canowie area linking the township of Booborowie with the major arterial road of Wilkins Highway. It is a commodity route for 26m B doubles carting grain, hay and wool. Heavy vehicle usage increases during the seasonal harvest times.

Council will upgrade the road to a high standard open surface road by improving the horizontal and vertical geometry of the roadway and increasing the road width to an 11m formation. The road level will be raised by 300mm to improve drainage on the roadway. The existing drainage infrastructure is in poor/non existent condition with large amounts of water pooling on the roads surface during wet conditions creating a hazard for road users and creating additional maintenance requirements. 15 sets of culverts will be replaced/upgraded using 30,000mcb of rubble sourced from a local Council managed pit.
