Project description

The project included the construction of a rail underpass extending approximately 400m to the east and west of the Oaklands Park level crossing, modifications to road junctions along Morphett Road and Diagonal Road, a grade separation of the Marino Rocks Greenway pedestrian and cycling shared use path at Morphett Road, increased pedestrian accessibility along and across the rail corridor and to the train station and new Oaklands train station of 160 metres in length to cater for increased train length and to manage patronage growth on the Seaford line.

The project is expected to significantly reduce congestion, improve safety and travel times.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $74.3 million to this project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in July 2018 and the line and station were open to commuters in May 2019.
