Project description

The existing roadway is made up of a different combination of materials, the road is in poor condition with either overgrown shoulders or non-existent shoulders. In wetter weather water pools in wheel paths with aquaplaning a high risk. Stormwater doesn't currently drain away from the road adequately causing soft and boggy areas by the road. Significant maintenance of the road is required constantly for safety as the road is a light and heavy vehicle route to Mount Gambier and provides heavy vehicles access to the heavy vehicle bypass to the north of the major centre.

The 1.5 kilometres of road will be reconstructed with a 10 metre wide formation including 2 x 3.5 metre wide traffic lanes and 1.5 metre wide shoulders. A stabilisation treatment will be applied and a 150 millimetre basecourse layer of PM2 material will be constructed followed by a two-coat spray seal.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,900,000
