Project description

Mulga Park Road is a well used road for the cattle transport and tourism industries and has a high proportion of indigenous communities traffic. A significant volume of traffic is triple road trains for cattle haulage, community stores and mining exploration. The road section traverses winding sand dune and rocky hill country, with numerous creek crossings and worn formation. Drainage is poor with the pavement having severe corrugations, loss of formation, scours and washouts. In wet weather, water ponding closes the road for short to medium periods. The road has been the subject of numerous near misses and accidents.

Reform and gravel re-sheet over a 10 kilometres length, and reinstate drainage and floodways between chainage 206 to 223 kilometres.
