Project description

During peak tourism periods a large number of vehicles frequent the IGA, Bakery and Butchery. The influx of tourist traffic consisting of buses, five wheelers, caravans, etc, generally park where the can fit, at times stacking two vehicles deep immediately adjacent to the through carriageway, which is the Capricorn Highway. This presents a dangerous interaction of vehicles and pedestrians as at times the ability of the motorists to see pedestrians is obscured.

Formalise on-street car parking on the Capricorn Highway (Barcaldine-Alpha) immediately opposite the IGA and northern side of the highway to improve car parking, semi trailer deliveries and to reduce the congestion in the area generally thus improving safety.
