Project description

Traffic volumes along this segment of roadway have increased dramatically over the past few years and will only continue to increase upon completion of Calderwood Valley Subdivision. The road contains significant nonconformities with the current Shellharbour City Council Subdivision Design Code and the driving surface has many pavement defects. The road upgrade will comprise of five stages, with Stage 1 to be completed in 2018/19 and a subsequent stage completed each financial year thereafter. - Stage 1: Sprayseal from Cattle Rd to Marshall Mount Rd, Detailed Design of upgrade from Marshall Mount Rd to Mellows Rd, construction of pavement upgrade from CH1750 to CH1950 - Stages 2 - 5: Utility relocation, upgrade of six culverts and pavement upgrades from CH0 to CH1750 and CH1950 to CH2380 Stages 2-5 are proposed to be part funded by Council, future Roads to Recovery Programs and RMS Safer Roads Program.

Calderwood Road Upgrade Stage 1 - Sprayseal of Calderwood Rd from Cattle Road to Marshall Mount Road: driving surface has extensive pavement defects for full length. Work required to improve traffic safety until major upgrade by Lendlease in 10 years. - Detailed Design of Calderwood Rd from Marshall Mount Road to Mellows Road: detailed design to upgrade road to a compliant state under Shellharbour City Council Subdivision Code. - Implementation of Detailed Design: Upgrade of pavement from CH1750 to CH1950 (encompasses the most severe of the pavement defects and is also between the future culvert upgrades and so will not be prematurely removed).
