Project description

The current road varies in width, has poor strength and durability. The current state of the road is not fit for purpose. This project meets the objectives of the 'Last Mile' project to ensure heavy vehicles have clear access for the full length of their journey. This project increases amenity for local residents and businesses in the area.

Work proposed involves the reconstruction of Kingston Avenue to 10m width to accommodate heavy vehicles. This project will also accommodate a new intersection to the as yet made Donald Street which will be constructed concurrently with this project (250m east of Treatment Works Road) . An electricity pole will be relocated off the road reserve to enable this intersection to be constructed. The work includes kerb and watertable on the northern side, and construction of a swale drain on the southern side of the road. This edge will remain unkerbed with a 1m sealed shoulder. The pavement will be constructed from 175mm of PM2 material for the sub-base and 175mm of PM1 material for the base course with 40mm asphalt. The intersection will have additional depth of asphalt to cater for heavy vehicles turning.

Total cost of proposed project is $750,000
