Project description

Kentish Road is a regionally significant road that provides primary local access to the township of Gawler Belt, and provides access to Xavier College and the Adelaide Soaring Club. The road carries approximately 2,500 vehicles per day increasing to 2,850 during school periods. The works will provide a cross-section that supports good traffic flow near a school area and will formalise movements associated with school pickups and dropoffs, making the road and associated area safer. The road configuration will eliminate illegal parking and discourage dangerous manouevres that are often evidenced near schools..

The work proposed includes the rehabilitation and upgrade to achieve a minimum service life of 25 years and fit for purpose width and pavement design. The upgrade incorporates, pavement strengthening, new surfacing, road widening, kerb and gutter improvement, indented parking, improved traffic management and footpaths. It will also be of sufficient width to allow safe cycling and also enable future cycling connections.

Total cost of proposed project is $612,000
