Project description

The Barkly Stock Route is extensively used by heavy vehicle in the support of pastoral proprieties on the Barkly Tablelands. The stock route is black soil with 93% gravel. The black soil formed section is below natural surface level, out of shape and is impassable during the wet season. This section restricts delivery of fuel, store supplies to pastoral proprieties and prevent the movement of cattle when market conditions are most appropriate. Over $30 million of cattle are transported across the Barkly Stock Route each year. The reforming and gravel resheeting of ch. 97 to 107 kilometres section will improve accessibility.

Reform and gravel resheet 10 kilometres from ch. 95.2 to 105.35 kilometres.
