Project description

This project upgraded the section of the Pacific Motorway between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill including widening the motorway from six to eight lanes, ramp consolidation, managed motorways technology, extending the busway to Springwood (Park-n-ride at Rochedale), allowing bus priority south of Springwood, and better active transport connectivity between centres.

Benefits

It is expected this project will deliver the following benefits:
 

  • additional lanes and other capacity improvements to reduce congestion

  • shorter travel times for high volumes of freight, commuter, commercial, and tourist traffic

  • busway extension to improve public transport connectivity

  • pavement reconstruction to support increased heavy freight volumes now and into the future
     

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $510 million to this project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in March 2020 and completed in August 2025.
