Project description

The project involves the duplication of the existing two lane Joy Baluch AM Bridge, and widening the approach roads to allow for two lanes in both directions between Mackay Street (south of the bridge) and Burgoyne Street (north of the bridge). This project also includes the removal of the Great Western Bridge.

Benefits

The project will improve: - passenger and vehicle safety - connectivity and reliability for freight - local community and tourist vehicle travel times, and - provide efficient and reliable travel and safer overtaking opportunities.

Funding

The Australian Government is funding on an 80:20 ratio in conjunction with the SA Government.

Timetable

Construction commenced in October 2020 and is expected to be completed by mid-2024.
