Project description

The Melbourne Airport Rail Link will provide a rail service for passengers travelling between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne CBD, via Sunshine station.

Benefits

The project will provide faster and more reliable travel for users travelling between Melbourne's CBD and Melbourne Airport, and reduce congestion on the road network, including on the Tullamarine Freeway. 

Funding

The Australian Government is contributing $7 billion towards construction of a rail link to Melbourne Airport. 

Timetable

Early works on the Melbourne Airport Rail Link were completed in 2024 and construction is expected to be completed by late-2033.
