Project description

The 'S-bend' near Stranger Road is on a very low level, and the line of sight is bad in both directions. Both parts of the 'S-bend' need to be reconstructed to improve safety for road users. This job will also tie in with the Blackspot project for the Stranger Road intersection.

Raising the level of the road by approximately 1 metre for 400 metres around the 'S-bend' to create a better line of sight and widening the seal to 7 metres to make the 'S-bend' safer for road users in both directions.This job will also tie in with the Blackspot project for the Stranger Road intersection.

The timber girders which support the 15m long timber running surface are in poor condition due to their age, water damage and some infestation from white ants.Proposed works include the removal of the existing timber girders and timber deck and replace with reinforced box culverts and undertake some minor roadway approach works.Total cost of proposed project is $304,884

Existing pavement is severly depleted of pavement material.Nominal pavement width to be increased to 4m. Renewal of low standard pavement with minimum 80mm fine crushed rock.Total cost of proposed project is $34,622
