Project description

Numerous tight curves on sections of Wondinong Paynesville Rd between Wondinong Homestead and SLK 3.0 and on Wondinong Cue Rd between Wondinong Homestead and SLK 1.2. The intersection of these two roads is located at the gate of the Wondinong Homestead. This poses a safety issue to station traffic., inclusive of children and also to public travelling past the Homestead. There is evidence of vehicles leaving the pavement on several of the corners. The two sections are located within a low lying area subject to flooding and high water flows. As a result numerous washouts occur following rain events.

Create a new section of straight road between SLK 3.0 on Wondinong Paynesville Rd and SLK 1.2 on Wondinong Cue Rd so that Traffic bypasses the Homestead, the horizontal alignment is improved and the section is realigned into a shorter, safer, straighter section of Road. The new section avoids the low lying area subject to high water flows & consequent damage. The bypass is 3.5km in length and involves clearing, construction of new formation, drainage and sheeting as the remaining budget allows. Sufficicent natural gravel and water have been located on site.
