Project description

The project installed a grade separated interchange at the existing Hobart Airport roundabout so the Tasman Highway passes over Holyman Avenue, with dual lane roundabouts at the ramp terminals.

Benefits

This upgrade improved access to the Hobart Airport, reduced congestion and added greater traffic capacity. The improvements also provided a better solution to access to Cranston Parade. This upgrade formed the beginning of the Hobart to Sorell Corridor and provided benefits for commuters travelling to and from Sorell.

Funding

The total project cost is $46.4 million. The Australian Government contributed $37.1 million to the project with the remainder being funded by the Tasmanian Government.

Timetable

Construction commenced in December 2020 and was completed in July 2023.
