Project description

The existing road is a formed graded nature, informally constructed of clay from the surrounding area. There is no drainage infrastructure in place and as a consequence of the surface being clay material water ponds during wet periods rendering the road impassable. The existing road surface varies between 4-5m. The road provides access to adjacent primary production land and is a corridor for the transport of primary production commodities. A review of freight movements by Council has determined that the road requires upgrading to accommodate the movement of hay and grain to a nearby feed lot. Approximately 30,000 tons per annum of commodity freight is transported through this corridor.

The existing horizontal and vertical alignments will be improved to accommodate safe passage of restricted access vehicles typically 26m B doubles and 30m A Doubles. Drainage infrastructure will be installed to eliminate water ponding issues. The road surface will be widened to a minimum of 7m and surfaced with 100-150mm of road base material.

Total cost of proposed project is $112,570
